Integrated Old Age Welfare
India is being considered to be the emerging market in old age care. The elderly population of India is estimated to be around 80 million out of which 30 million elderly citizens are “isolated, lonely and socially underprivileged.”
Seva champions the cause of elderly care and has been raising it voice to sensitize people against elderly abuse. It has been running an old age, Arunodaya, which is the home for 28 destitute and deserted senior citizens from Chandragiri, Chandragiri Mandal, and Chittoor district.
Seva organized many awareness programs to reinforce and enhance the commitment and ability of families to take care of older persons. It also propagates building and strengthening inter-generational relationships particularly between children/youth and elderly persons. It also emphasizes and contributes towards the need to undertake life long preparation for old age.
Seva enables formation of self help groups/associations of older persons and works for the advancement of their rights and interests. It conducts medical camps regularly for the elderly persons. The organization has taken a step towards constructing a housing facility to facilitate and improve health care and housing needs, particularly for the destitute senior citizens. It also plans to house a paid old-age home to generate for the operation and maintenance of its up-coming facilities.
